Dear Friends and Supporters,

As The Actors Studio of Newburyport completes our 30th year, I’d like to toot our own horn for a moment. If the last two years had been what we used to affectionately call “normal,” a 30-year anniversary alone would have been an excellent cause for celebration. What I want to trumpet is not only our longevity, but also our flexibility in facing the challenges of the last two years. I am proud of our teams – the board of directors, the programming committee, and our instructors, directors, actors, writers, and videographers – who found new ways to produce theater.

This year, with our theater space shuttered, we learned to pivot from in-person classes and live performances to virtual versions of our programming. Later, we ventured into hybrid programming, remaining online while adding live performances outdoors. Eventually, we were able to add some indoor performances. I’d like to extend huge thanks to The Dance Place, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and The Firehouse Center for the Arts, all of whom have made their facilities available to us, as we look for a theater space of our own. It takes a village, and we are grateful for ours!

As you plan your charitable giving, I hope you will consider The Actors Studio of Newburyport. Although our theater space is closed, our office at 50 Water Street in The Tannery Marketplace, Mill #1, Suite 4 remains open. Feel free to drop me a line, or email me at marc@newburyportacting.org. I’d welcome your insights and interest. With your support, we will look forward to new permanent home in the New Year.

Once again, I thank you for your continued generosity.

Sincerely,

Marc Clopton
