Full Moon Story Slam – Virtually

June 27, 2020 @ 3:00 pm

Deadline for Storytellers to register: by noon June 20 (8 will be selected from a hat)

Full Moon Story Slam date: Saturday, June 27 at 7pm
Theme: Piece of Cake

Please note: Audience Members limit is 100, so be sure to sign up early

The next Full Moon Story Slam is our chance to gather as friends – virtually, of course – and share true stories from our lives. Simply put, a story slam is a competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts a dual emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they’re saying and how they’re saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit – and it is great entertainment! Story slammers will tell a 5-minute short story based on the evening’s theme: “Piece of Cake.”

If you would like to tell a story, please email info@newburyportacting.org on, or before, noon on June 20th. At 5:00 P.M. we will draw our 8 storytellers from a hat on FACEBOOK LIVE. We ask that you be available for a 30-minute tech session on Thursday, June 25th at 7:00 P.M. The competition will be on Saturday, June 27, at 7:00 P.M.

Don’t be nervous, we will send easy instructions and host a run through beforehand.

Pre-registration to be an audience member is also required.
Once signed up, you will be sent the Zoom link. Simply email info@newburyportacting.org
Criteria for judging will be the same as during a live slam.
• The story has an arc: a beginning, a point of change, and a resolution.
• Presentation of the story.

• Time (no longer than five minutes) and connection to the theme.

Please remember, the story must be true. The story must be yours. And you may not use props, notes or a written script.

Just in case you missed it above, the competition will be
Saturday, June 27, at 7:00 P.M.
This event is free, however, donations are greatly appreciated.
