Short Play Festival 2022 – Act One

October 15, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

TASN’s 5th Annual Short Play Festival: A Celebration of Shorts

The Actors Studio of Newburyport, MA is dedicated to New Play Development and 2022 marks the fifth annual Short Play Festival. The submission window opened on January 1, 2022 and was to close March 1, 2021, or until 200 plays were received, whichever occurred first.  Due to the overwhelming response, we reached (extended) our limit, accepting 280 plays and closing our submissions window January 2!  Submissions were received from 42 states and 9 other countries!!!

After an extensive process of reading and re-reading the submissions (5 rounds), 16 Semi-Finalists were selected. We held our All Day Selection Sunday Extravaganza June 26, 2022.  All 16 Semi-Finalist plays were performed as cold-readings.  We voted for our favorites and here are our 8 Finalists:

The Total Spiritual, Rich Orloff (NY)
Jupiter, Marsha Roberts (CA)
Stealing A Kiss, Laurie Allen (TX)
Buried Treasure, George Sapio (NY)
The Ripple Effect, Arianna Rose (FL)
All Aboard!, Michael Burgan (NM)
Precipice, Alex Dremann (PA)
