Crippled Inside, by Lawrence Hennessy – POSTPONED

August 16, 2018 - August 19, 2018

OUR APOLOGIES – BUT THIS SHOW IS POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS

Crippled Inside, by Lawrence Hennessy, is a quasi – autobiographical account of life in a suburban Washington D.C. family during the late 1960’s focusing on the father-son relationship between John Matherson, a high ranking justice official, and his son James Matherson, a high school student in the middle of his, “make or break” year of completing college applications. The story is James’ some 50 years later as he grapples with his new role as a “celebrity Historian” on PBS. It juxtaposes the political turmoil present in the United States in the 1960’s, with the familial dynamics of the Matherson family as it relates to the popular culture of music, drugs and changing moral perspectives so prevalent in that same decade.

TASN regulars with a good memory may recall Hennessy’s 2009 play, 96 Tears, which focused on the relationship of mother and son from the same troubled decade. This time it’s Dad’s turn.
