The Travels of Grub Olbo

November 6, 2021 @ 7:30 pm

Joshua Faigen, the writer and director of Grub Olbo, has a lot to say about his play. “It’s very funny,” he says without hesitation. “At least, I laughed a lot when I was writing it – which was during our most recent terrible pandemic. If I can laugh through that … well, so can you.”

“I’ve endeavored to provide the highest sustained Jokes Per Page (JPP) ratio, and you will also hear many intrinsically funny words, such as: Hussar, khong wong, and Zemititsy. The play is loosely related to Russian history, in much the same way that Groucho Marx is loosely related to Leo Tolstoy.

“There will also be a good deal of unexpected music, poetry (kind of) and speechifying by wonderful local actors.

“Anyway, I hope you can attend. I think you’ll really enjoy it. Especially if you’re a student of Bolshevism in the early 20th Century, a lover of borscht, or a viola player.”
